Our main objective is to market local vegetables, fruits, honey, and quality crafts. This is our 3rd year and we are growing fast. A new and local organic vegetable farm joins us this year. We are also fortunate to have a Thai chef who markets her "ready to eat Thai foods" at this market.
This is what the local newspaper, The Smith Mountain Lake Eagle, wrote about this market last year (June 08): Live chicken, ducks and eggs from free range hens. Ripe, fragrant peaches, the size of soft balls. Juicy, heirloom tomatoes, corns picked the night before, young, tender yellow and green squashes without blemish. Artisan breads, homemade breads and cakes. Thai Masman Curry, packaged and ready to heat up for a quick dinner with the different. Several varieties of honey from the hive just down the roads These are just a few examples of what being offered at the Moneta / SML Community Market.
We offered the freshest vegetables, fruits, honey, breads, eggs cheese, Thai foods and quality crafts at our market. All products are produced locally and travel less than 50 miles to the market.
With this diversity of vendors and a great new location: on the grounds of Moneta Farm & Home Center, on Rt.122 (the highway running from Rocky Mount to Bedford) we feel that our market is here to stay!
